Original digital artwork can be very expensive at times. It is difficult to develop and it might not fit within the confines of the project. The nine dragons of Macau were developed for the Hard Rock Casino at the City of Dreams Resort. I developed the concept for all of the wall panels based on two simple ideas: the number 9, which in Chinese culture holds great significance; and the idea of family that is true and dear in all parts of the world. The story is about nine celestial dragon brothers who work hand in hand to keep balance in their dream universe. The shadow puppets from Indonesia inspired the form and shapes used on the dragons and each panel tells the story that comes to a final celebration in the large perimeter wall along the casino that you see presented here. I was thrilled that the final art pieces were integrated so well with the entire experience of this casino and that they were so well-liked by the client and the patrons as well.
